STEM Mentoring Cafe Newsletter

The Fort Lauderdale (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and The Pace Center for Girls started their partnership program by traveling to the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium to participate in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Mentoring Café. The STEM Mentoring Cafe is an interagency effort to engage students to major in STEM related careers by providing speed mentoring sessions and a commitment to ongoing support from federal employees. In addition, a major goal of this program is to recruit girls and female STEM professionals, to combat their underrepresentation in STEM. Link Yvette was recently appointed executive director of the Heart Gallery of Broward County, a 501(c) (3) that promotes the adoption and enrichment of foster children. This appointment makes her the youngest person, and the first female African American to hold this position.
